Magescq had an important role in the system of the Royal Posts set up by Louis XI. There remains today a nice building, the Relais de la Poste. It was purchased by the Coussau family who turned it into a Relais Châteaux hotel with a restaurant. They did not stop there because they developed a small resort by adding the bistro Côté Quillier, Jean des Sables the marine table on the beach and a Décléor Spa.
