Golf Club de Lyon

The Lyon Golf Club is situated east of Lyon near Vilette d' Anthon. Built in 1919 near the city, he had to movedue to the passage of the highway. It is in this new magnificent landscape that the architect Hawtree realizes the first course, les Brocards. The success never coming alone, the Club received the organization of Open de France where the international golf big names are present. It became then necessary to build the second course " les Sangliers ".
For the course " les Brocards” we recognize the signature of the architect which likes creating difficulties by using the natural space without adding more. Technical dog-legs, par3 with difficult attack, long and narrow par4 with thick roughs nearby as invitation to lost...
Much more recent,  " les Sangliers " course bring a break in golf design. Longer, more difficult, it is a real championship course where every stroke must be calculated. The player can’t release any stroke between the narrow holes, the holes with water hazards as the magnificent n°5, the movements of ground bringing slopes where we think that there are none ! The architect used the first natural resource of this landscape very swampy, the water.
