The Château de Rochefort golf course, near the forest of Rambouillet in the south of Paris, is impressive on many points. The castle was erected by a famous diamond maker, Jules Porgès in 1898. It is the time of the "replicas", the castle will be the right copy, but much larger, of the Hotel de Salm, Palace of the Legion of Honor in Paris. It was in 1961 that the Domaine was bought to transform it in a golf course.
It has the particularity of a sandy land which makes it possible to play there all the year. The course, slightly hilly, extends in the middle of a vegetation composed mainly of secular trees. Is it worth to say that it is narrow as knows how to draw the architect Hawtree? No water but the arrival of ball requiring precise shots like the n ° 4, a par4 which even if it is not long will ask a lot of skill... Like No. 9, a well-defended dog-leg with deep bunkers surrounding the green, just like No. 13 and No. 16 ... The overall course is not long but golf is also a matter of precision, here the catch Risk is not appropriate, it is very dangerous ...
All in woodwork, the bar and the restaurant l'Albatros give you the pleasant impression of being in a comfortable English club with ... a magnificent view on the valley, view even more appreciated from the huge summer terrace.
